Description |
Resident Camp Counselor
Department: Education
Reports to: Camp Manager
Pay: $457/wk.
Position closes: 02/29/2008
Status: Seasonal
Availability: 24 hours per day,
7days a week. Work weekends,
holidays, early mornings, and
late evenings.
Hours: 24 hours per day.
Basic Job functions:
Enthusiastically represents
SeaWorld by displaying a
positive attitude, high level of
energy and commitment to quality
throughout all aspects of the
job. Provides instruction and
supervision to campers in the
resident camp program at
SeaWorld San Diego. Acts as a
role model to campers by
displaying team spirit and
enthusiasm throughout the entire
camp season. Camp Counselors
live in dorm facilities at
SeaWorld San Diego during their
employment.
Principle Duties: Ensures
excellent customer service by
responding to customer
requirements, expectations and
needs. Carries out activities
outlined in the camp curriculum
(including in-park and
out-of-park activities).
Supervises campers throughout
the day and night. Dines with
campers and sleeps in dorm
facilities. Meets and assists
parents and campers. Assists in
the arrival and departure
transportation of campers.
Chaperones campers to
out-of-park activities.
Supervises basic health and
safety of campers. Monitors
resident camper behavior during
camp. Completes necessary
paperwork. Assists zoological
staff with campers and work
areas. Assists in maintenance of
equipment and supplies as well
as inventory of all materials.
Performs miscellaneous duties as
needed.

Qualifications |
|
Required
Skills
Knowledge:
Must be able
to
positively
interact
with guests
and
co-workers
of all ages,
different
ethnic/cultural
backgrounds
and/or
languages,
and with
special
needs. Must
be at least
19 years
old. Two
years
experience
working with
children in
resident
camp
environment
preferred.
Must be able
to lift
and/or move
up to 100
pounds.
Other
physical
activity
includes
climbing,
crawling,
kneeling,
lifting,
pushing,
pulling,
walking,
standing,
reaching and
grasping.
Strong
verbal
skills
required.
Required
Training
Education:
High school
diploma or
equivalent
and
CPR/First
Aid
certification
required
from
American Red
Cross,
American
Heart
Association
or National
Safety
Council.
Recreation,
marine
biology,
biology,
zoology or
education
majors
preferred.
Must have a
valid
California
Drivers
License.
Must have a
current
physical
required by
the ACA
(American
Camping
Association)
or pass the
physical
required by
the ACA by
the first
day of work.
